Following It Up

By now, I knew the corridors, the grounds, the classes and most importantly, I knew the Trio. I eagerly flipped through the pages, dreading my Mama's call sending me to the market to buy something or Dad's voice asking me to water the plants. I dreaded interruptions to my world to an extent that I read the book under the blanket with a bright torch or a huge flashlight by my side. I heard the voices in parseltongue, ran through the corridor splashing water to find Mrs. Norris lifeless and feared Filch. I suspected Malfoy when Ron suggested he might be behind all this. I even suspected foul play by Slytherin when Harry was injured in Quidditch match. And then I entered the chamber of secrets. The carcasses, the dust, the vestiges of a dreadful era gone by left me pale. Finally I watched Harry struggle with the Basilisk! How I gasped every time, it struck forcefully! And almost cried when its tooth pierced Harry's arm. Finally all was well and Harry returned to Privet Drive safely (Though to be tortured by the Dursleys)
